... okay ...
Somehow, I don't see this even possibly not being heretical.
I mean, we are talking layer upon layer of heresy, here.
Right?
. . . .
Is this what Amarrisn capsuleers look like when they slip into the abyss? |

Elmund Egivand wrote:He is a Blood Raider, whom the Amarr call heretics and burn on stakes. Sort of got that.
Sort of. Only he's talking about ... um. Hm.
Somehow it hadn't occurred to me that the Blood Raiders would call their God "Holy and Righteous." |

Do they actually tell us, when we're interviewing for the State War Academy and so on, "You'll be expected to engage in mass slaughter as a matter of course, or else to arm and equip those who do"?
I ... can't remember.
If not, it's no surprise if there are some shocked consciences out there.
Or much surprise if some of those consciences belong to people who do what's expected of them anyway. |

Also: mission? You mean like in a simulator?
If you're talking about ... early capsuleer work, that seems like the bit where they're easing you, um, us, into what ... we ... weren't told.
I was asking about ... before, as in, before we risk mindlock and wetgraving to become capsuleers. |

I ... see. I'm sorry.
...
No, I'm sorry, I don't see. "Company asset?" Is that the way they talk about the children in the creche program?
But the State ... slavery ... it's not allowed. Surely, a corporate ward, and not corporate property? |

Samira Kernher wrote:It has nothing to do with capsuleers. It has everything to do with works. Faith without deeds is worthless. It is lip service.
There are many people who claim faith, who claim good, who claim that they will do many things. But until they actually go out and prove their faith and dedication with acts, it is hollow. So ... what's to be done?
It doesn't seem to be Captain Seriah's faith that is being tested.
Your pain's clear. Your anger is clear. Your path, though....
Respectfully, Lieutenant, you seem ... worryingly close to despair. That would be no use to anyone, yourself least of all.
Not all tests of faith are built only on deeds.
You fear that you are losing ground. Victory would certainly be more comforting, but what sort of test of faith is victory?
Whether the world is bright or dark, brightening or darkening, there's work to be done, Lieutenant.
It's mostly the same work, is it not?
There are people you cannot save. There are people you can.
Where is your glory, Praetorian Lieutenant? In the task, or in the reward? |

Samira Kernher wrote:The reward is the survival of millions, and their deaths the punishment for failure.
Glory is irrelevant. In your faith, is true glory something of this world?
Isn't true glory what you're looking for? God's grace?
For that matter, is death even an enemy?
We are alive. They are not. That is unfair; they did not deserve to die, and many of us do.
If this is a fallen world, what is a holy warrior's place?
To win and rejoice only in winning, or to remain faithful, win or lose? |

Psychos? Yes. But where's our bounty thread?
You had a carrier for breakfast, correct? But the way you set that up, it sounds like you didn't really think about the crew until you had reason to.
There ... seems to be some difference between capsuleers who kill because that's what happens when you blow up a ship, and capsuleers who kill for killing's sake.
There's not caring, and then there's Nauplius....
I guess that's also why I'm so mad at Anslo. |

Mr. Egivand, if Mr. Tuulinen is having kresh tea for breakfast, he's drinking something that would probably kill either of us. It's from a toxic tree native to Caldari Prime. The ethnic Caldari are resistant.
I'm not sure what that says about its "kick," but if he brews it too strong it'll become an ordeal poison even most ethnic Caldari can't survive.
Since I'm only a half-blood, I don't dare touch it. My tea just gets a bitter buildup of tannins if I steep it too long. |

Owen Levanth wrote:You are utterly insane. Since I'm not in the position to capture you and make sure all your clones are destroyed, I'll go instead the hard road and will balance your evil out.
In the name of the true faith, I've assembled a kill list to show God not all of us are working constantly on defiling New Eden:
-Slavers -Blood Raider Scientists
-To be killed summarily.
-Amarrian Spies -Amarrian Light Marines -Amarrian diplomats -Other assorted heretics
-If they're heretics, they'll die. (They're all heretics if they're captured by me.)
It may be not as incredibly cruel and impressive in raw numbers, however I think in targeting spies, diplomats and scientists I will do more damage to your cause then you ever could.
Gods and spirits ...
Ach. Fine. Maybe we ought to take this seriously, at least for a moment.
Pilot, just because Nauplius aligns himself (somehow) with both the Amarr and the Blood Raiders, and carries out acts of mass murder in the name of both, does not mean that they're complicit. Even the Blood Raiders have been shaking their heads at this.
These aren't demons you've targeted. They're human beings tangled up, one way or another, in institutions you see as evil.
Fair enough.
But killing prisoners because you don't agree with their politics doesn't make you a beacon of light and hope, pilot. It just makes you yet another killer.
Worse, it makes you a killer who kills without need or benefit. That seems to be recognized, even in a society of professional killers, as especially contemptible.
Unworthy of being taken seriously.
Maybe we'll be talking coffee makers and waffles in your thread, next. |
